The Minister for Health, Wicklow T.D. Stephen Donnelly had to clarify remarks he made during an interview last night.
During the interview on RTE , Minister Donnelly suggested that discussions between the Minister for Education Norma Foley and teachers unions on reopening schools were ongoing, despite the fact they had already finished.
Minister Donnelly posted on Twitter just after midnight that the talks had concluded and that the Government would make an announcement on school re-openings this afternoon. The Minister's Comments prompted Labour's Education spokesperson Aodhán Ó Riordáin to describe the government as dysfunctional and questioned why the Minister was so out of touch with what is happening with his government colleagues
