The Deputy Lord Mayor of Dublin Cllr Donna Cooney and the President of the Irish Farmers Association Francie Gorman, have officially launched the Live Animal Crib at the Mansion House for Christmas.
The crib was blessed by Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin, Most Rev Paul Dempsey and Rev. Paul Arbuthnot, St. Ann’s Church, Dawson Street.
The 3rd class from Belclare National School in Tuam, Co Galway attended today as the winners of the Agri Aware competition run in conjunction with the live animal crib. Their winning entry was a poem based on the theme Farmers’ Festive Gift.
The Crib will be open to the public from Wednesday 11th December until Monday 23rd December from 11am to 4pm daily and Christmas Eve from 11am to 1pm.
The animals in the live crib return to their farm in Enniskerry at the end of every day.
The Live Animal Crib is a joint initiative between Dublin City Council and the Irish Farmers Association.
