Nearly 58,000 people are on the waiting list for a driving test.
According to freedom of information figures, 15 test centres have over 1,000 on their waiting lists.
They include venues in nine counties, including Carlow, Kildare, Louth and Waterford.
Brian Farrell, from the Road Safety Authority, says the Covid pandemic is to blame.
