New figures released to Social Democrats TD, Rory Hearne show 17 of the 31 local authorities didn’t collect money owed under the Derelict Sites Levy in 2023.
The Derelict Sites Register, which records the sites subject to an annual levy, shows there were nearly 2,000 derelict sites around the country at the end of 2023, up from about 1,500 the year previous.
Waterford City and County Council had 82 registered sites, without collecting any money - the highest number recorded across the country.
