The work is expected to formalise a number of crossings for Aldborough, Charlesland, Glenheron, Hawkins Wood and Seabourne View.
NTA funding of €1.2 million has been approved to allow these works take place.
Many of the crossings on the Charlesland dual carriageway currently operate without a lights system.
Wicklow County County Council staff have been re-directed to other projects, and therefore a contracting company is needed.
Councillor Stephen Stokes has said he will continue to seek improvements for Charlesland, Delgany, Greystones, Kilcoole, Killadreenan and Newcastle.
