From 14th March until early May of this year, Avondale Forest Park will be closed during weekdays.
This is to facilitate the building of 'Beyond the Trees Avondale', a new treetop walkway and viewing platform.
The park will remain open at weekends and public holidays during this period.
The work will result in a new 12 storey high wooden viewing tower, a 1.2km Tree Top Walkway, and a Visitor Orientation Hub with a new café and renovated courtyard buildings and walled garden.
These developments come after a €16 million partnership was achieved between Coillte, Fáilte Ireland, and German developer Erlebnis Akademie AG in 2021.
In the meantime, alternative and nearby forest walks are available at Coillte’s Ballygannon Wood, on the Laragh Road just 1km outside Rathdrum, the Avonmore Way, and Jubilee Walk in and around Rathdrum.
