About 500 staff in the Midlands Prison in Portlaoise are to be tested for Covid-19 after a cluster of cases was confirmed yesterday.
A number of staff have tested positive in the biggest jail in the country, but so far none of the 824 inmates have displayed symptoms.
The Prison Officers Association , says there have been nearly a dozen cases among staff.
