The former journalist and presenter has been recognised for his work in the media and his campaign to highlight the difficulties in living with motor neurone disease.
The Ashford man helped raise over €3 million for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association and Pieta during his Climb with Charlie event earlier this year.
The Commemoration Piece presented to Charlier was created by the west Wicklow based artist and blacksmith Michael Calnan of Calnan & Anhoj, forge and gallery, Russborough House, Blessington.
