Chantelle Cameron claims her trilogy rematch with Katie Taylor has been cancelled.

Katie Taylor's world championship rematch with Chantelle Cameron may be in jeopardy, with the challenger claiming that Taylor is seeking to 'avoid' the bout.

There has been another dramatic twist in the ongoing saga surrounding the trilogy World championship fight between Katie Taylor and Chantelle Cameron which had been provisionally scheduled for May 25 in the 3Arena.

The UK boxer revealed on Instagram last night she had taken a 'massive purse reduction' for the fight to happen. Cameron has claimed in a social media post that the fight will not now take place in two months’ time even though she had agreed to what she describes as a ‘massive purse reduction’.

It now seems probable that Taylor will fight on May 25, but it will be a mandatory defence of one of her World belts rather than the much-anticipated trilogy encounter against Chantelle who is the only professional fighter ever to have beaten the Bray boxer.

In a post on Instagram Cameron said:

“Just an update on talks with the Katie fight. I have agreed to a massive purse reduction to make this fight happen financially as this was what I was told was the hold up from the fight being agreed.

"The reason is because I wanted to create my own legacy.

“Now it looks like Katie will take a “keep busy” fight and avoid me as I think she knows that certain things that went her way in the last fight won’t happen again.

“Sorry to the actual boxing fans who wanted to see this fight but the trilogy not happening is down to Katie and her team and not me”
