Cabinet is expected to sign off on a 100 million euro package to fund the return to on-site teaching for colleges and universities.
Minister for Higher Education Simon Harris is seeking cabinet approval for the extra funds.
21 million euro of that money will be spent helping students from disadvantaged backgrounds, supporting students experiencing financial difficulties while in college and overall student mental health.
