SIPTU members have voted to conduct a ballot for strike action if controversial plans to privatise the company go ahead.
The commercial semi-state company runs a wheelie bin collection service in Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Limerick, Meath, Offaly, Roscommon, Tipperary, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow.
Up to 135,000 households could be affected if work stoppages go ahead.
SIPTU representatives will meet the company shortly to discuss the situation.
They have requested an urgent meeting with the new Minister for Climate, Environment and Energy, Darragh O’Brien.
At these meetings they will relay our members’ solid opposition to a privatisation which would undoubtedly damage their terms and conditions of employment.
