Blessington FC have won an appeal after missing out on a funding allocation under the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme.
After lodging successful appeals against the decisions, Blessington FC has now been awarded €154,000 for two new pitches planned for their grounds at Crosschapel, with the Coolkenno Sports Field receiving €186,000 for the construction of a pitch.
Meanwhile Newtown Football Club have also been successful in overturning an appeal after being deemed not eligible for funding due to minor technicalities.
The grounds in Newtown are home to several popular local football teams, including Newtown United FC and Newtown Juniors FC.
This funding will allow these clubs to expand and safeguard their facilities into the future.
Other successful appeals mean
- Floodlighting works will take place at St. Anthony’s Kilcoole Utd FC with an allocation of €129,819
- New clubhouse will be built at the Wicklow Rowing Club with an allocation of €170,000
- And Disability assistance will be provided Woodenbridge Golf Club with an allocation of €142,526.88
