Nuns Cross in Ashford has been notified this week by the Department of Education they can reconfigure existing space in the school to provide an extra class
Speaking today, Taoiseach Simon Harris said:
“I am delighted to announced Nuns Cross in County Wicklow has been approved for an extra mainstream classroom.
“Many parents and families who get in touch with my constituency office have raised the issue of classroom capacity.
“As Taoiseach and as a TD for Wicklow I have been working with the Department of Education and principals around County Wicklow to get more capacity delivered for schools in Wicklow.
“Children across Wicklow deserve to be accommodated in spacious and upgraded classrooms.
Taoiseach Simon Harris added:
“This is a significant step in the right direction for Nuns Cross.
“The level of ambition from the Department of Education when it comes to meeting demand with capacity needs to be kept apace.
“As the population in Wicklow continues to grow, we need to make sure the infrastructure is there to deliver for families across the county.
“New classrooms in schools means more space but it also means the overall learning experience of children is improved.
“I will continue my efforts as a representative of the people of Wicklow to enhance educational facilities within our community.
“Working to improve children’s education and putting the supports behind schools to ensure top quality learning is a key priority for me.
