Arklow RNLI launched at approximately 9.15pm on Wednesday to a request to assist a sailing vessel.
The volunteer crew made their way to the lifeboat station and and within minutes of the request were aboard RNLB Ger Tigchlearr and enroute to the reported location.
In a Force 5 Southerly Breeze with moderate seas, The All- weather Trent Class lifeboat made its way to the reported position 1.5 miles North of Arklow.
Once on scene the casualty vessel with 3 persons aboard was located and it was confirmed that the vessel had suffered mechanical failure.
A tow line was established and the casualty vessel was towed back to Arklow and all hands came ashore In the inner harbour.
