The trial of a 34 year old man accused of killing his former partner at her Wicklow home is due to get underway at the Central Criminal Court this morning.
Daniel Murtagh of Melrose Grove in Clondalkin is charged with the murder of 30-year-old Nadine Lott, after an assault at St Mary's Court in Arklow in the early hours of the 14th December in 2019.
She died in hospital from her injuries three days later.
Yesterday the accused pleaded not guilty to murder but guilty to manslaughter.
However the plea was not accepted by the Director of Public Prosecutions and a jury of seven men and five women were sworn in to hear the trial, which is expected to last two weeks.
