A spokesperson for the Health Minister says that re-tendering the contract for the National Children's Hospital would only delay the project.
The comments come following a statement from developers BAM, offering to pull out of the contract, if asked to do so.
The latest figure in the overspending scandal at the hospital puts the cost at roughly 1.7 billion euro, up from 650 million euro originally.
