The new Bray Central shopping centre, which was due to open last year now won't open until next year at the earliest.
The centre has been dogged by delays in the past two years, including the Covid Lockdown, labour shortages in the Construction sector and building supply issues. but green Councillor Erika Doyle said yesterday that the centre will be completed on the 31st of January next.
However given that several planned opening dates have now passed, there is still some pessimism that the new completion date will be met.
Last month Councillor Joe Behan raised concerns about a lack of information on the progress of the new shopping centre and predicted that the centre would not be open by Christmas.
While it’s been widely rumoured that Pennys will be the Anchor tenant, Councillor Behan said he has never been able to get that confirmed.
