21,000 On Learner Driver Permits For 11 Years

Nearly 1,400 people in Wicklow and around the country have been driving with only a learner permit for over 26 years.

According to freedom of information figures, a total of 21,000 have had one for over 11 years.
You can't apply for a third or subsequent learner permit unless you've recently done a driving test, or have one booked.
The Road Safety Authority says the new figures are concerning.
