20,000 Cases Of Covid Identified Here In The Last Two Weeks

The Chief Medical Officer says there have been almost 20,000 cases of Coronavirus in the past fortnight.

17 per cent of the cases were people who are fully vaccinated, but Dr Tony Holohan says this is entirely in keeping with what is expected as an increasing proportion of the population get vaccinated.

There were a further 1,522 new cases of COVID-19 reported in Ireland yesterday.
217 patients with the disease are in hospital, 34 are in ICU.
