Craig Evans, who keeps 31 birds at his family's farm in Wicklow, discovered an egg with a circumference of 16 cm and standing at 9 cm when he went to check on his chickens last Tuesday.
He says he doesn't know which of his Rhode Island Red hens laid the 117 gram egg, but says he's holding on to the extra large egg for now.
