There have been 1,205 new coronavirus cases recorded in the Republic.
Three further deaths have also been reported. It's the second day in a row of record new cases.
Of today's cases, 288 were in Dublin, 173 in Cork, 123 in Meath, 97 in Galway, 63 in Cavan and the remaining cases were spread across all other counties.
Of the cases notified today, 71% are under 45 years of age with the median age 34 years old.
Chief Medical Officer Dr Tony Holohan said: "The number of hospitalisations are increasing faster than the exponential growth modelling predicted.
