Cabinet is due to sign off today on the law changes needed to implement its 100 euro energy credit.
Once agreed the legislation is expected to be passed very quickly through the Dail and Seanad.
It'll see 100 euro taken off every domestic electricity bill in the country in March, with the deductions being made automatically by the utilities companies.Minister Eamon Ryan says the credit will actually be a little more than 100 euro, and he says Russia is partly to blame for the high prices.
