The Wicklow Uplands Council’s projects which were successful in receiving almost €34,000 this week for two conservation projects under the 2024 Peatlands Natura Community Engagement Scheme.
Green TD Steven Matthews has said this funding will enable further collaboration and help protect our fragile uplands areas and support those that live and work there.
"I want to thank my Green Party colleague Minister Malcolm Noonan who announced more than €458,000 in funding for 36 local community groups and organisations for projects across Ireland under the expanded Peatlands and Natura Community Engagement Scheme 2024.
“This scheme supports local initiatives for the conservation and revitalisation of peatlands and promotes public engagement with and awareness of our natural heritage and environment. It is aimed at community-led associations and volunteer groups, which play a vital role in helping to promote and implement conservation and restoration projects in Ireland.
