A Switcher.ie study has named Wicklow Town and Arklow in the top ten towns in all of Ireland for work-life balance.
A life where both work and personal time co-exist harmoniously is one that is sought after, but not always achieveable given the challenges faced by many in 2024. However, there are some towns in Ireland where this balance is more pronounced than others, and this was the subject for Switcher.ie’s latest ‘work-life balance’ study, which used their Work Life Balance Index (WLBI) to sort the best from the rest. The Work Life Balance Index takes virtually everything into the equation when sussing out where towns rank when it comes to the balance between work and leisure. This includes the number of local amenities like supermarkets and outdoor activities, broadband coverage, crime rates, commute times, and the number of schools and creches available for families. The Work Life Balance Index looked for the following: Broadband speeds and local coverage; sports facilities and leisure centres; cafés and shops; supermarkets; green spaces like public parks and gardens; primary schools and GPs; proximity to major roads and bus stops. Arklow was found to be the 5th best town for work-life balance, while Wicklow Town was 6th.
Switcher.ie described Arklow as “A handy commuter town with Wicklow and Dublin easily accessible by road and rail. It boasts a good range of leisure facilities, supermarkets and schools, plus you’ve got sandy beaches and riverside walks to walk the dog or stretch your legs.”
