Wicklow Tourism Shines Through Award-Winning Russborough House & Glendalough Visitor Centre

CIÉ Tours Awards 2025 Tara Leigh & Caroline Nash, Russborough House - Aodán Clarke and Val Roe of Glendalough Visitor Centre

Wicklow continues to prove itself as a must-visit destination with award winning visitor experiences.

Wicklow is basking in the spotlight as two of its premier tourist attractions have been recognized for their outstanding contributions to Ireland’s visitor experience.

Russborough House and Glendalough Visitor Centre were awarded merit awards in the prestigious CIÉ Tours International Awards of Excellence 2025, celebrating hoteliers and tourist operators who have impressed the 30,000 visitors who traveled to Ireland with the carrier this year.

The awards, which highlight excellence across Ireland, acknowledged Wicklow’s gems in the Leinster Visitor Experience category.

Visitors praised the historic elegance of Russborough House, renowned for its stunning architecture, lush gardens, and rich art collection. Meanwhile, the Glendalough Visitor Centre, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Wicklow’s mountains and valleys, was celebrated for providing an immersive journey through Ireland’s medieval monastic heritage and natural beauty.

These accolades come at an exciting time for Irish tourism. The government recently launched a National Tourism Policy Statement, outlining ambitious goals to enhance tourism’s economic contribution, promote regional development, and ensure the sector remains inclusive, sustainable, and adaptable to future challenges.

Backing this commitment, €233 million has been allocated in Budget 2026 for the Tourism Services programme, aimed at boosting regional development and employment across the industry.
