Rents have risen again, up 1.6 per cent in the second quarter of the year, marking the 18th increase in a row
In Wicklow, market rents were on average 4.2% higher in the second quarter of 2025 than a year previously.
The average listed rent is now €2129, up 49% from the level prevailing when the pandemic occurred.
Nationally, market rents rose by an average of 1.6% in the second quarter of 2025, according to the latest Rental Report by Daft.ie, the eighteenth consecutive quarter of rising rents.
The average open-market rent nationwide between April and June was €2,055 per month, up from a low of just €765 in 2011 and 51% higher than before the outbreak of covid19.
There were almost 2,300 homes available to rent nationwide on August 1st.
This is down 14% year-on-year and close to half the 2015-2019 average for availability of homes to rent.

The report underlines the continual steady high rise in rents across County Wicklow according to the author of the report from daft.ie Ronan Lyons:
''What we're seeing in Wicklow is a further increase in rents, albeit a slower one than in recent times. There was a one per cent increase in the second quarter and it means that compared to a year ago, rents in Wicklow are on average just over four per cent higher. That's down a little bit from the eight per cent inflation seen last year but it means rents have been rising steadily year-on-year for well over a decade.''
He added:
''Compared to the outbreak of covid just over five years ago, rents in Wicklow are almost half-higher, almost forty-nine per cent higher than they were in early 2020.''
