
Wicklow council county claims it has reached out to Arklow pride community for guidance on ways to best represent the LGBTQIA+ community.
The contentious debate over pride pedestrian crossings continues in Arklow.
Local councillors have been informed of a planned demonstration over the crossings, while staff have discussed alternatives proposed by the Wicklow Pride committee.
Wicklow County Council said crossings would not be maintained because they don't comply with legislation, despite that being contradicted by Wicklow-Wexford TD Malcolm Byrne.

Arklow-based filmmaker and LGBTQIA+ activist Dave Thomas has told East Coast FM that
''By allowing this to just go and disappear is shocking, while at the same time there are local authorities who have copied and were inspired by the Arklow and county council progressive move on this. They have copied it, the same design and actually have installed in various places like Limerick have six, Cork city and they're all based on the fact that Arklow was the first one to do a permanent pride one.''
