Wicklow County Council planners have declined a planning application from Kilsaran Concrete to develop a sand pit in West Wicklow
The application which faced strong local opposition, proposed the use of just over 15 hectares at Ballyhurtim, near Dunlavin, for sand and gravel extraction, with more than 40 trucks moving between the site and the Kilsaran processing plant in Tallaght each day.
