Wicklow Man Accused Of Harassing Teenage Girl On Way To School Granted Bail After Court Sitting

A man allegedly made sexually explicit hand gestures towards a 17 year old girl who was en route to school in Newtownmountkennedy

A Wicklow man who is accused of harassment and abusive behaviour towards a teenage girl has been granted bail under strict conditions.

33-year-old Stephen Kenny of Annagolan in Ashford appeared before a sitting opf Bray District Court, charged with harassment under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act.

The charges surround incidents which allegedly occured in Newtownmountkennedy this year.

The court heard that Mr Kenny allegedly made hand gestures of a sexual nature towards a 17-year-old girl at a bus stop as the teen made her way to school.

One charge of threatening and abusive behaviour in a public place was struck out.

Judge David Kennedy granted bail on a €300 bond, with conditions that the charged man make no contact with the girl and stay out of Newtownmountkennedy, barring the need to attend medical appointments.

He is due to return before Bray District Court on October 20th.
