After fostering emerging talent, improving tactics and driving high-performance Wicklow GAA figures are thrilled that Oisin McConville has signed on for two more years as county football boss
Wicklow County Board have announced that Oisín McConville’s term as county senior football manager has been extended by a further two years.
County board delegates have voted overwhelmingly to extend the 2002 Armagh all-Ireland winner's term after a return to form for the Garden County's football fortunes under his stewardship.
The deal will take the popular figure through to the end of the 2027 championship season. Since taking the reins, McConville has helped to radically improve performance levels and squad development.
Wicklow came within a score of promotion from division three this year while they delivered a strong Tailteann Cup campaign before being beaten narrowly in the semi-final by eventual finalists Limerick.
The progress achieved on and off the field has been widely commended by players, supporters and County Board delegates alike.
The county board have issued a statement:
''As Oisín embarks on his fourth season with the county, we look forward to building on this momentum.
His commitment to fostering emerging talent, refining our tactical identity and driving a high-performance culture gives us every confidence that Wicklow football will continue to flourish. We thank Oisín for his dedication to our county and look forward to another exciting chapter under his stewardship.''
