A vital new resource that can help save lives has been launched in Ashford.
A new defibrillator has been installed in the new car showroom at Ashford Motors.
The owner of the business at Coyne's Cross, Nadia Adan has sponsored the defibrillator with the support of the County Council.
She wants to raise more awareness of sudden cardiac arrest in Ireland:
''The defibrillator that is registered with the national ambulance service is so important to have life-saving defibrillators around as possible.
''We're delighted to get back into it and to support it.
''Thirteen people a day die of cardiac arrest.
''Having a defibrillator that is accessible to first responders, or to have someone there that can really, really help is truly life-changing.''
Cathaoirleach of Wicklow County Council Cllr Melanie Corrigan, was on hand to help launch the new defibrillator for the local Ashford community.
Nadia added that she is very happy to play her part in saving lives:
''I'm delighted to do something for the local community, all of whom had been most supportive in welcoming me to the area.''
The retired owners of the site, Jimmy and Ina Healy, who ran a heavy vehicle sales business there for over 30 years said they were very happy to see the defibrillator in place but hoped that no-one would ever have to use it.
