Stolen items were returned to home owners by gardaí after an attempted robbery by two men in Greystones
Two men were arrested in Greystones after gardaí were called to the scene of a burglary at a home on Thursday.
Gardaí arrested the pair in their 40s under Operation Thor after they discovered the men attempting to flee the scene.
They were found to be in possession of a bag with items that were identified as belonging to the homeowners. The items were subsequently returned to the owners. Investigations are ongoing.
When Gardaí arrived to the scene, they searched the residence and discovered both men attempting to abscond.
The two men were taken to Bray Garda Station and were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Operation Thor was launched in November 2015 with the aim of detecting and preventing incidents of burglary and associated criminal activity by undertaking targeted enforcement and preventative activity.
This initiative continues to have a positive impact on the reduction of property related crime in Irish communities.
