A taskforce with all the relevant stakeholders,state agencies and Wicklow County Council is to be set up to drive the reopening of the Bray to Greystones Cliff walk.The Taoiseach said the Government stands ready to provide any funding necessary to support this cause.
Taoiseach Simon Harris said:“I am determined to see the Bray to Greystones Cliff Walk back open.“As an avid walker and someone who grew up nearby the cliff walk I know how important this cliff walk is to the community.“I have been speaking to families and businesses right across Greystones who have described to me the impact its closure has had on them.“I will convene a taskforce will all the relevant stakeholders, state agencies and Wicklow County Council so we can get this walk reopened.“My government stands ready to provide any funding necessary to assist in driving this forward.
“It is a major tourism amenity, it’s so important for all the businesses in the town and has hige benefits for the people of Greystones and Bray’s health and wellbeing.“As a TD for Wicklow I will do everything I can to make this happen.
Councillor Louise Fenelon Gaskin welcomed the Taoiseachs initiative on the Cliff Walk and said that his intervention is necessary.
"There is a huge frustration in the area at the slow progress in re-opening the cliff walk and a feeling of helplessness.I am confident that the Taoiseach’s intervention will bring a new impetus to getting this important amenity reopened soon."
