The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has withdrawn its advise not to bathe at Wicklow’s Silver Strand and Arklow’s Clogga Beach
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has withdrawn its advise not to bathe at Wicklow’s Silver Strand and Arklow’s Clogga Beach, after the latest bathing water results for water samples taken by Wicklow County Council showed excellent quality.
Wicklow County Council monitors bathing areas along its coastline during the bathing season, which runs from June 1 to September 15 each year, with sampling for water quality taking place throughout the summer, from May to September.
Bathing waters are ranked on a scale from poor, sufficient, good to excellent, with the bathing water results – taken on September 2 – from Silver Strand, south of Wicklow town, and Clogga Beach returning the lowest rating, prompting the EPA to advise against bathing.
