The Upper Vartry Trail near Roundwood is to fully reopen after being partially closed for a number of months.
In a statement, Sport Ireland said that insurance difficulties that caused the closure of a section of the trail in February have now been resolved.
The trail forms a loop around the shore of the upper part of the Vartry Reservoir beside Roundwood. It is just 6.4km long and graded ‘easy’, ideal for many walkers. During the closure, part of the trail was impassable and it could not be used as a loop. The full trail route has now been reinstated and the entire loop can be enjoyed again by the local community and walkers from further afield, as it was before the closure.
