Wicklow Municipal District have backed a planning application to enhance and redevelop the Abbey Grounds in Wicklow Town.
The council was awarded €500,000 from Fáilte Ireland to restore the garden, and follows recent upgrades made to the Fitzwilliam Square and Market Square developments.
The project will see a number of improvements made in the area which include the conversion of the Coach House to a café an exhibition space, the instillation of extra public seating and providing appropriate backlighting of the Abbey Ruins.
