Airspace within the TRA is restricted to use by aircraft authorised by the Permanent Defence Forces for five days.
Planning on taking your drone for a scenic spin over the Wicklow Mountains next week? You might want to hold off!
A Temporary Restricted Area will be in place over the National Park from Monday 20th to Friday 24th October, running 8am to 4pm daily.
The reason? Low-level military flight training. The Irish Aviation Authority says the restrictions are all about keeping the skies safe for everyone. During this period, only Defence Forces aircraft, Coast Guard planes, and emergency medical helicopters can fly in the area.
For everyone else — drones included — flying in the restricted zone could lead to fines or even having your drone seized.
Worth leaving the aerial photography for another week!
