
16,000 Wicklow premises are included in the State’s Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools.
Over 13,000 homes and businesses in County Wicklow can now access high-speed fibre broadband from National Broadband Ireland.
Almost 5,000 premises have already been connected — including rural areas such as Enniskerry and Blessington.
In total, 16,000 Wicklow premises are part of the National Broadband Plan rollout, which is bringing minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second. It’s the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification — with €59 million going directly to Wicklow.
NBI is encouraging Wicklow residents to check their Eircode on nbi.ie to see if they’re ready to connect.
CEO TJ Malone says the rollout is transforming how rural Wicklow lives and works — from online learning to business growth and better access to services.
Across Ireland, NBI has now passed almost 420,000 homes, farms and businesses, with over 148,000 already connected. Take-up is strong, averaging 35% and rising above 50% in some areas.

And while the full fibre network is being built, Wicklow already has public Broadband Connection Points in places like the Wicklow GAA Centre of Excellence, Brockagh Resource Centre and Ballintemple National School — offering free high-speed internet to local communities.
