National Lottery celebrate EuroDreams Wicklow wins near the seafront in Bray bringing breakfast goodies
National Lottery players in Wicklow have had lots to celebrate lately with not one but two EuroDreams players winning big on the same night earlier this month.
On Monday 8th September, a Wicklow woman made history by becoming the first ever EuroDreams player in Ireland to win the Tier 1 prize worth an incredible €20,000 per month for 30 years.
The top prize winner, who purchased her ticket online, was delighted to visit the Winners Room to claim her annuity prize after matching 6 numbers and the Dream number in the Monday night draw. Unlike other National Lottery prizes, the EuroDreams winner left Lottery HQ without a physical cheque as the annuity payments will be made directly into her bank account for the next 30 years.
The Wicklow woman, who is keeping her win private, revealed that she does not play the game often and only bought her ticket by chance.
“To be honest, I only play National Lottery games now and again. The day that I bought this ticket, I was out walking in the rain, and was dreaming of how a big win would certainly brighten up my day, so I got the phone out and bought a ticket.”
The winner admitted that it was the next day before she checked her ticket when her husband text to say he heard that someone had won the top prize.
“I had just arrived at a work meeting when I got a text from my husband to say someone had won the top prize in the EuroDreams draw. Of course, I was curious, so I discreetly opened the app on my phone and checked my ticket. It was a good thing that no one saw my reaction as I got the shock of my life. I am used to seeing €5 or €10 amounts on my tickets but there it was in the little green box above my ticket on the screen - it said quite simply €20,000 per month for 30 years. I was convinced I had to be seeing things or there was some mistake. I had to keep my cool for the rest of the meeting so it really could not have ended quick enough. I raced home so that I could show my husband the ticket and get him to double check it. We were both just staring at the screen and then went into celebration mode.”
The winner revealed that travel is something she would love to do more and the first destination has already been decided.
“We just celebrated a big anniversary so going back to where we had our Honeymoon is the dream. I am sure the list of what to do next will grow over time but for now we are just so excited to start planning.”
On the same night, another Wicklow player who purchased their EuroDreams ticket at SuperValu in Bray, won the Tier 2 prize worth an incredible €2,000 per month for 5 years.
The winner admitted they felt a mix of emotions when they realised they had a winning ticket: “I cried over and over again when I realised I had won! This win is an amazing amount to have every single month for the next 5 years! I’m looking forward to booking last-minute trips now."
To celebrate Wicklow’s latest EuroDreams winners, the National Lottery will pop up in Bray this morning (Tuesday 23rd September) with treats for morning commuters. Expect free coffee, cupcakes and a few spot prizes to brighten up the early morning routine.
The National Lottery coffee truck will be located at the car park near the corner of Strand Road and Quinsborough Road along with a very special guest, Malahide Woman aka James Patrice.
