Daniel Munteanu was imprisoned in March of last year.
Daniel Munteanu, of Navan, Co Meath, was imprisoned in March of last year for six and half years after he pleaded guilty to 10 charges of stealing €121,800 from 52 Bank of Ireland accounts between September 9, 2018 and March 4, 2019. During the spree, more than 300 withdrawals were made from ATMs located in counties Wicklow, Meath, Louth, Monaghan, Cavan, Westmeath, Offaly, Kildare, Dublin, and Galway. He also admitted possessing 51 cloned bank cards, a machine for making false bank cards, two fake Romanian driving licences and identity cards and a false passport, which had been uncovered by gardaí during a search of his home. At the Court of Appeal yesterday, it was noted that a discount had already been applied to a headline sentence of 11 years, which was reduced to seven years with the final six months suspended. Ultimately, Munteanu's appeal was dismissed and the father-of-two lost his bid to have his sentence reduced.
