Major Funding Boost Announced For Housing Adaptation Grants In Wicklow

In total €117 million in national funding has been announced to help older and disabled individuals live independently in their homes.

Wicklow is set to receive €3.5 million as part of this initiative, which will benefit hundreds of people in the county.

Wicklow's share will provide much-needed financial assistance to help older and disabled people continue to live independently.

Speaking today Tánaiste Simon Harris said:

“I'm truly delighted to see this substantial increase in funding.

“This is set to have a direct, positive impact on the lives of older and disabled people in Wicklow.

“With over 13,000 people across Ireland set to benefit from these grants, this funding will enable people to remain in their homes and communities for longer.

“Government is working to make sure that no one is left behind, that’s what this funding does and that’s what drives me every morning when I go into the office.”

Key improvements to the Housing Adaptation Grants for this year include:

• An increase in the maximum grant for Disabled People to €40,000, an increase of €10,000.
• An increase in the maximum Housing Aid for Older People Grant to €10,700, an increase of €2,700.
• An increase in the Mobility Aid Grant to €8,000, up by €2,000.

The Tánaiste added:

"People in Wicklow will be able to make their homes safer and more accessible, ensuring they can live independently for longer which is key to making stronger and safer communities rights across our county. Whether it's adapting bathrooms, kitchens, or installing lifts, this funding empowers individuals and helps them to remain part of their local communities."
