As a result, raw sewage is forced onto surrounding streets.
The Cathaoirleach of Greystones Municipal District, Nicola Lawless says the area gets flooded at least once a year and the existing pipework is unable to cope with capacity of waste and rain water.
Councillor Lawless says Irish Water has carried out a preliminary assessment and will be implementing a full Drainage Area Plan for Greystones, which she says is very welcomed.
But she says immediate measures to develop a longer-term solution to the issues on Victoria road, are to implement better storm water management in the catchment area and assess the impact on the existing Victoria road pumping station.
