Wicklow Sinn Féin Councillor Grace Mc Manus has called on Bray Municipal District to put in place a management and eradication plan to tackle the invasive Giant Hogweed plant growing along the river Dargle in Bray.
It’s after an 11 year old girl sustained toxic burns to her legs recently, when she came into contact with a plant in the Little Bray area.
The Giant Hogweed is one of 49 invasive species identified by a European regulation which must be eradicated by member states.
Grace McManus says there is a legal obligation on the local authority to tackle the issue which has been identified at several locations along the Dargle river.
