Hopes of a Katie Taylor homecoming fight in Croke Park have reportedly been dashed.
Taylor, the current undisputed lightweight champion, previously defeated Amanda Serrano by split decision at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden in April in what was widely viewed as the most significant bout in women's boxing history. The match was previously covered by East Coast FM here.
In the wake of that fight, the possibility of a rematch in Dublin was raised and in May, Taylor's promotional company Matchroom Boxing held talks with Croke Park over staging a fight in the stadium this autumn.
The Bray boxer had wanted a rematch against Amanda Serrano at the Dublin stadium this autumn, but Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn says the Puerto Rican's team have no interest in a fight in Ireland this year.
Earlier in June, Serrano took to Twitter and appeared to hint that she would be back in the ring in August:
Im Back! August 2022 😉
