Katie Taylor's future plans will be revealed in due course after the Wicklow woman's latest big win over Amanda Serrano
Wicklow's Katie Taylor sealed her memorable fight trilogy with Amanda Serrano with another victory in New York by majority decision on Friday.
She retained her undisputed super lightweight titles with a highly disciplined and controlled performance in beating the Puerto Rican.
The Bray woman has long since secured her legacy after decades of gilded success, but the questions surrounding her future continue.
She was questioned as to her future plans at Madison Square Gardens....
“I don’t know. I am just going to enjoy this victory right now. Sit back, reflect and I will make a decision on that soon. But I am very, very happy with tonight’s performance.
"It was a cruel few months of preparation for these kinds of fights and I am so glad that I was able to showcase what I could do tonight.”
After defeating Amanda Serrano for a third time, most experts say there are few credible challengers for her crown either. Britain's Chantelle Cameron beat Jessica Camara on her Most Valuable Promotions debut but Taylor told the assembled media that the Northampton woman’s calls for a third meeting doesn't interest her.
The 39-year-old reserved special thanks for the huge travelling Irish support. She was asked if they will ever have the chance to see her compete again, and perhaps at Croke Park?”
“That would be unbelievable but as I said in the ring earlier, these people are spending their hard-earned money to come and support me. It just means the world. Honestly, I can’t believe that this is my life.
"I am headlining a show in Madison Square Garden, an all-female card, looking back on the whole journey, what an amazing ride. These are the nights I dreamed of as a kid. To be sitting here again as a winner, I am just so happy. I am so grateful.”
