Factors like sunshine, natural amenities and distance from a city are among those considered.
County Wicklow has an overall ranking of 9th place. Wicklow's many mountains and beautiful coastline rank us highly for natural amenities in 3rd place. Our sunny position places us in 6th, and we also score highly for proximity to Dublin.
However recently surpassing County Dublin for the most expensive housing in the country drops Wicklow right to the bottom in that category. The cheapest housing in Ireland is found in counties to the north and west. Dublin and neighbouring counties – Wicklow, Kildare and Meath are the most expensive. The average house price in Wicklow now stands at €420,000.
Waterford, Donegal and Cork are the top three most liveable places, according to this new research.
