Garda Dies After Shooting Incident In Roscommon

A Garda who was seriously injured in a shooting last night in County Roscommon has died.

The shooting happened close to the Garda Station on Main Street in Castlerea, shortly before midnight last night. the male Garda was seriously injured and treated by emergency services before being rushed to hospital.

However a statement from the Garda Press Office just after 6 o’clock this morning has confirmed that the officer had passed away.
One man was arrested shortly after the shooting. He's being held at Castlrea Garda Station.
