Funding Worth €1.5 Million Allocated For Bray Institute of Further Education

Wicklow Minister Simon Harris confirms a €1.5 million investment for BIFE which will see the building of a brand new and state of the art modular accommodation.

Bray Institute of Further Education (BIFE) has been green lit with a €1.5 million investment for a brand new c1250m² modular facilities that will replace the existing temporary accommodation.

Speaking today Minister Simon Harris said: “This is fantastic news and a much needed investment in our college in Bray.

“I have been working closely with BIFE and with my Department to get this project and investment over the line so I am delighted to be able to announce this €1.5 million investment today.

“The new modular unit will be truly transformative and will be of huge benefit to thousands of young people in Wicklow looking to study close to home.

“Back in October, as Minister for Further and Higher Education I received an application to replace the old temporary facilities in BIFE with newer and more fit for purpose ones.

“I look forward to working closely with BIFE as we develop the proposal to develop a Wicklow College of the Future, a significant upgrade of the BIFE campus, which will allow for a major expansion of apprenticeship courses.”

The College of the Future Major Projects Fund will support the implementation of the vision set out in the Further Education Strategy.
This Fund, and the proposed for development in County Wicklow has the potential to deliver on a range of strategic objectives.

Minister Harris concluded “Delivering educational opportunities in Wicklow will always be a top priority of mine.”
