Sheep are particularly vulnerable at this time of year, with the lambing season is due to get underway.
On New Year’s day in Tipperary, a herd of pregnant sheep were attacked by dogs, leaving one dead, several injured and a number still missing.
While in December, 26 Ewes in lamb, were either killed or badly injured by dogs.
Official figures show there were 252 sheep attacks in 2019, but the Irish farmers Association says it believes the number of attacks could be as high as 400 a year, when unreported cases are taken into account.
