There’s little good news for 213 residences from Barndarrig village to parts of Kilbride impacted by a Do Not Consume Notice in place for more than 10 weeks.
The notice was first issued on the 9th of February for customers supplied by the Barndarrig Public Water Supply.
Irish Water says elevated levels of nitrite detected in the supply, remain high. The water is not safe for consumption or for the preparation of foods but can be used for hygiene and use in washing machines and dishwashers.
Bottled Water has been made available at the car park opposite Barndarrig Church.
Speaking to East Coast FM’s Morning Show, Peter Thornton from Irish Water said so far they have been unable to identify the source of the contamination, but they will be putting a monitoring system in place which will hopefully lead to a resolution.
